I've always wanted to be a nurse. While my children were young I took a class here and there toward getting into a nursing program someday. When my youngest was four, I decided it was finally time to make the leap into nursing school. I graduated in December 2008 and have worked in a hospital float pool ever since supporting: Med/Surg, telemetry, oncology, Mother/Baby, ER, critical care. I have also worked in outpatient chemotherapy infusion clinics and infusion centers. I have now narrowed my focus to include only those outpatient chemo/infusion clinics and inpatient critical care, telemetry and oncology. I also function in the roles of Resource and Crisis nurse. I enjoy teaching classes within the hospital system such as ACLS, nurse residency, certification preparation courses and skills labs.
Over the years, I've thought many times that I should write down some of my experiences, thoughts and learning moments if for no other reason than to analyze those things and improve my practice, my communication, and problem-solving skills. Here it goes...
